Carrick House Wedding- November 17, 2012

In November I had the pleasure of doing the flowers for a bride that gave me a picture of a bouquet to create her entire wedding decor around! She loved the willow look and the burgundy calla lily and she wanted her centerpieces to be created around those two elements.

The wedding and ceremony were both held at the Carrick House; an absolutely beautiful venue in downtown Lexington, KY.
This bouquet of calla lilies, roses, gerber daisies, berries, sunflowers, eryngium, and willow was so unique and definitely matched the bride's personality. The rich colors and textures scream fall.
The groom's boutonniere, a burgundy miniature calla lily with berries and greenery, complimented the bride's bouquet.

The two buffet pieces of hydrangea, snapdragons, mini call lilies and curly willow definitely made a statement.
Cocktail arrangements of burgundy roses and green berries.
The small table centerpieces: daisies, mini hydrangea, calla lilies, roses, berries and curly willow

The large centerpieces of curly willow, hydrangea, daisies, roses, sunflowers, gladiolus, bells of ireland and snapdragon definitely grabbed your attention.

Rustic Farm Wedding- July 21, 2012

Allyson and I met at the bridal show in January and had a great consultation shortly after. She was one of the best brides to work with and I am so honored to have been a part of her wedding.

Their wedding was located at the family farm out in Versailles and they wanted the flowers to compliment the rustic, shabby chic vibe of the venue. The bridesmaids dresser wore turquoise so we decided to do peach and white flowers. For the tables we did centerpieces of grouped blue mason jars and wood crates. Roses, dahlias, lisianthus, freesia, carnations, mums, lilies and stock were some of the flowers used for their special day.

This wedding was exciting for me as it was the first wedding I was able to work with Great Expectations. Below are some pictures from the day.

Rustic, Outdoor Wedding- June 10, 2012

Tristan and Aaron came to Lexington from Texas for a destination wedding at Talon Winery. Tristan loved the idea of the monochromatic look throughout the bouquets and centerpieces. Her colors were ivory, navy and pale pink and we incorporated those colors into the flowers.

The couple really wanted to give their wedding a rustic, informal feel; the ceremony took place at the gazebo located in the winery's vineyard that overlooked the scenic landscape. We decided to keep the ceremony decor simple with rose petals lining the aisle and two floral arrangements hanging from the gazebo as a way to complement the natural beauty of the setting.

The bridesmaids carried bouquets of pale pink flowers (hydrangea, roses, lisianthus and carnations) while the bride carried a bouquet of blue flowers (hydrangea, iris, delphinium). For the centerpieces Tristan loved the look of grouped blue mason jars. We incorporated the monochromatic look here by grouping three mason jars filled of all pale pink, all blue or all white flowers. For the bigger arrangements we filled mason jars with flowers of all three colors and surrounded it by mason jars filled with pillar candles. We used such a wide range of flowers for Tristan and Aaron's wedding: stock, hydrangea, football mums, delphinium, lisianthus, iris, aster, astilbe, roses and carnations.

Tristan and Aaron make a beautiful couple and I am so honored that they allowed me to be apart of their wedding day. Here are a few pictures from their special day:

January Bridal Show- 1/15/2012

Fields in Bloom had a great debut public exposure event at the Lexington Bridal Show this month. We met and talked with 450-500 brides! It was so wonderful to meet so many people in the wedding industry as well as potential clients.

We saw some expected as well as unexpected trends for weddings in 2012- LOTS of purples, but also quite a bit of grey with different accent colors! We were surprised at the amount of brides planning September weddings as well as how many hadn't picked a date yet.

We offered a great promotion for registered brides- "Book by April 1st and receive your bridal bouquet free"! And we've received some great feedback on the goody bags we handed out.

I was so excited to do the arrangements for this event- when you do weddings, you obviously do what the Bride visions for her special day, with a little of your own twist added. For this event I got to do some arrangements I've been excited to try out. I did some colorful bridesmaid bouquets and then two centerpiece options that attracted completely different brides- one was really loud, fun and modern, whereas the other was more traditional and timeless. Color blocking, a current trend in the fashion and flower world, is a look I love and was so glad to incorporate. It was interesting and fun to see which bride commented on which centerpiece- as it explained a lot about their personality and what look they envision for their wedding.

So far the show has been a tremendous success. It's only been two weeks since the show and already we've received 6 contacts! We think its the start to a great 2012!
